Basic Medical Skills: Calling 911, First Aid (Minor cuts and scrapes, Minor Burns, and Nose Bleed) and First Aid Kit. NOTE: For some this might be a trigger especially if they have experienced or witnessed an Emergency or a person needing first aid.
Basic Medical Skills: CPR + AED. NOTE: For some this might be a trigger as we will be talking about heart attack and cardiac arrest.
Basic Medical Skills: Bandaging Technique Lvl 1
Guest Speaker: Health Medical Professional (Doctor, Nurse, Ultrasound Tech, Patient Services, Phlebotomist, Blood Bank, Hawaii Native Medicine)
After learning about the rules and procedures of the class. Students then work with their teams to plan and build a tower. Communication and Leaderships skills were then showcased for this activity
HOSA and Wheel Exploration Field Trip
April 16, 2025 6th grade Wheel Students and a handful of HOSA Students went to Leeward Community College to experience how College students learn different skills in the field of Health Care. Students were taught about Universal Precautions (Safety), PPE, Patient Grooming, Pill counting and a demonstration of mixing medications using a syringe. This field trip was made possible through the partnership between Ewa Makai Middle School, Leeward Community College, and from the Leeward District Resource Teacher for CTE.
