The concept art beside was the first official sketch of Nomi (left) and Zy (right) originally drawn for Victor de Souza’s game, Zenog. The story, characters, environment, and gameplay of Project Kaos all originated from Zenog. Nomi was originally the main character of the story and was supposed to discover the secret truth behind the split city of Veil. In Project Kaos, Zy is the main character of our story and is the one to discover the secret behind the city of Cobehaven which was once part of the city of Zenog. Nomi’s character design has a more elegant outfit from a traditional Japanese descent if compared to our world. Zy, on the other hand, was designed to appear more simplistic and childish with their bright colored hair and choice of wearing all black. These design choices were put in place to resemble their personalities, Nomi being the more mature and obeying character that would slowly go against the norms throughout the narrative and Zy starting off as the rebellious teen who learns maturity through hardships experienced.
This art piece was created as the first cutscene in the visual novel styled cutscenes that took place in the game Zenog. In the scene, Zy and Nomi are running through the upper part of Veil (Now called New Zenog) on their way to the first mission of the game where they would discover the new enemy threats and be forced to put their skills to the test. In Project Kaos, this has become a concept art for the end of the game, after the final mission where Mr.Bad is defeated. The background displays one city that has both the purple glow of Cobehaven and nature of New Zenog combined after the city became reunited. Zy and Nomi end up living a happily ever after life where their relationship represents the two divided cities’ relationship.
Similar to the piece above, this one was another cutscene from Zenog. In this scene, Zy and Nomi discover a portal to an unknown location and seem curious enough to go through. In Project Kaos, this concept art has evolved into a visual representation of the gameplay mechanic of portals that was unfortunately scratched from the final game. But, it may still be used as a post credit idea to comedically hint towards a sequel or remastered version of the title.
The concept art beside was the original idea for the map's layout. Surrounded by mountains on the northern side of the island sat the main popular industrial city, New Zenog. Further down south where there is contact with the ocean is the port like city that has evolved into Cobehaven, still separated by a wall. And hidden on the other side would be the last city that is inhabited by the natives of the island. This unknown city may not be covered in the gameplay of Project Kaos, but rather be hinted towards in the collectibles and other forms of lore the player may indulge in.
The poster seen beside is the first attempt created of what marketing material for the game would look like. It was creatively designed as seen by the meteor in the background having a purple trail resembling the purple essence of Kaos magic, and their is a face in the trail of the meteor that seems to also sit in Zy’s hand like the character Rogue does in game. The main weapon of the game is also seen in Zy’s primary robotic hand. Finally, the title of the game and Zy themself sit on the rooftop of Mr. Dad’s workshop in New Zenog. This poster is to be redesigned and finalized towards the end of the game’s development with the rest of the planned marketing material.
