Anyone grades 9-12 can join DECA! You must have taken a business class or have been a previous DECA member to participate in competition. If not, we offer a business interim exam for new members to take if they haven't taken a business class before. You must pass the exam in order to be eligible to compete.
ALL chapter information is sent through Remind (@ltdeca23) and email (trailblazerdeca@gmail.com). We also post helpful competition tips, what to pack to travelling, and other useful information on our Instagram account (@trailblazerdeca).
There are three levels of competition in DECA: District (DCDC), State (SCDC), and Internationals (ICDC)
DCDC is in the Irving Convention Center during January and includes competitors from District 7.
SCDC is usually held in major Texas cities, such as Austin, Houston, Fort Worth, San Antonio, or Dallas. This year, SCDC is in February in the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, TX.
ICDC is the highest and most prestigious level of competition. Past ICDCs have been held in cities such as Atlanta, GA and Anaheim, CA.
"Super Saturdays" are large chapter meetings held at school on a Saturday. The officer team organizes presentations, training events, networking activities, and usually brings food for our 200+ member chapter! You'll get to meet everyone in our chapter and will receive instruction on how to prepare for competition.
DECA is most notable for our exciting field trips. We go to a Dallas Mavericks basketball game every year, and this year we'll be going to a Dallas Stars hockey game and Dave and Busters too!
Officer applications are usually sent out towards the end of the prior year. Once the application deadline ends, selected students will receive an interview and officers will be chosen by DECA advisors. If you're interested in becoming a DECA officer, we encourage you to get more involved with our chapter, such as participating in any of the three committees and campaigns!
