Engineering Fields

Home Campus: Heritage High School

Project Objective: Create an electronic poster on your chosen field of Engineering. Include information about what an Engineer might do on a typical day, what is the typical starting salary for that field, what education is needed to find a job, and why might you be interested in pursuing a career in that Engineering field.

Design Process: First I researched different types of engineering occupations and chose one that I found interesting, and then I used the given template to document information on my specific engineering employee's typical day, typical starting salary, and necessary education. Following the documentation, I wrote about why I would be interested and what the job really was.

Learning Target: The purpose of this assignment is to research one of the many different fields in Engineering.

Personal Reflection: I learned significant details on what the day and life of a petroleum engineer is like, and gained a substantial understanding of what needs to be done for me to reach the level of a petroleum engineer. There is a vast breadth to what petroleum engineering entails, however, Even though the work that Petroleum Engineers do is more suited for the background, the significance of their results is what keeps the functionality of a variety of technology in check. In truth, our lives would change significantly if the field of Petroleum Engineering didn’t exist, but not for the better. Furthermore, I find it extremely interesting that this form of engineering has a massive hold on the efficient operation of a multitude of machinery in society. It entices me, knowing that the work that I would be doing is keeping the world from floating into chaos. Additionally, I really like how social moderation is a factor in this occupation, not having to deal with angry customers just adds to how enticing this job really is, furthermore, group projects with peers are something that I genuinely enjoy and since this type of work is in majority in this job, I feel like it would be an appropriate path for me to follow.
