Over April break, 2022, I attended the school trip to Iceland. This was the most beautiful place I have ever been to and I am so excited to say that I learned so much about Icelandic cultures and traditions throughout the week.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Viking museum | visit active, smoking volcano | relax in the blue lagoon | whale conservation museum
Day 2: drive north to tiny village for lunch in a family owned restaurant | learn about Icelandic horses and their unique gates | explore downtown Akureyri | enjoy
views from new hotel on the fjord
Day 3: go to old fishing village and learn about their overfishing problem in a herring museum | learn about the fishing business at a family owned fishery, eat
fermented shark and bob for cod eyeballs | put on giant safety suits and go whale watching
Day 4: visit a massive waterfall | hike up snowy pseudocraters | hike through a forest riddled with stories from the Yule Lads | look at hot sands | visit
a massive fissure created from tectonic activity
Day 5: explore downtown Akureyri once more | visit old Viking village and learn about their lifestyle across from the mountains | hike up a massive, grassy crater |
visit downtown Reykjavík
Day 6: visit a geothermal power plant | explore a warm greenhouse with thousands of tomatoes and a cute restaurant | visit geothermal hot springs | walk around
Gullföss, a massive waterfall | explore a national park | free time in Reykjavík
Day 7: visit downtown Reykjavík once more before heading back to the airport

A beautiful beach in Turks and Caicos, something that I could already picture before we even arrived!
This was in the town which was greatly damaged from hurricanes years before. With cruise ships and tour companies going there, it directly benefits the community and hard working people that live there. Grand Turk is a beautiful place, especially the beach, but not many people go as it's not a usual "tourist stop". It was amazing to see such hard working people in a tight-nit community on a small island with beauty everywhere.
