My leap... What? Why? Where?
What? My goal is to analyze the benefits and risks of utilizing sustainable solutions such as solar panels instead of company-provided electricity. I understand that solar panels are a seemingly eco-friendly alternative to machine generated electricity, but I do not understand the full extent of the development and installation process. I don't know how sustainable the materials used to make them are, or what harms the products may pose. In order to accept them as a sustainable solution and speak intelligently on them, I need to become educated on the products. As part of an internship I am doing, my goal is to develop a plan that leads to solar panels on the new West Elementary School. I need to weigh the pros and cons and be ready to receive disapproval for planning such an action.

Why? I want to be able to identify and speak intelligently on environmental protection and solutions. I can't preach saving the world and reversing climate change if I don't back up my claims with steps to do so. I believe utilizing renewable energy sources is extremely important in this ongoing climate crisis, so I want to truly understand how we can do that.
Where? I want to have a definite understanding of solar panels and renewable energy sources. How exactly can solar power provide electricity for so many people? More specific to my internship, I want to have a plan for implementing a sustainable solution, like the solar panels on West Elementary.
