All physical science students at AHS will take the Introductory Physics MCAS during their freshmen year. As of 2025, passing this test is no longer a high school graduation requirements. All the material covered in this class will prepare each student to achieve a passing score for the MCAS. The minimum passing score for a science MCAS is 470.
Don't wait until the night before MCAS to start studying. Practice and review a little bit as we progress through the semester so that you do not get overwhelmed when MCAS is near. Remember that all the information on the MCAS is not new information and we have reviewed it all in class.
The Science MCAS is traditionally administered during the first week of June. Make sure you keep all your class materials so you can review for this test. This includes notes, handouts, labs, quizzes, tests and any other paperwork completed during our class. It is important to stay organized so that you can find any topic when you are reviewing for the MCAS.
Dates: Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Motion, speed, scalars, vectors, velocity, acceleration, forces, Newton's three laws of motion, gravity, momentum, impulse, conservation of momentum, work, energy, power, conservation of energy, electricity and circuits, magnetism, waves, sound, light, thermal energy, heat transfer and radioactive decay
