Goal: The goal of this unit is to improve the ability to answer ‘who’ questions in common functional uses. Who questions will be practiced in relation to text, schedules, and common community signs or visuals. Personal information will also be taught in this unit. The concepts of address, phone number, birthday, age, and gender will be practiced based on common functional uses as well as the specific personal info of the student.

Topics: answering what questions and calendar vocabulary
Goal: The goal of this unit is to improve the ability to answer ‘what’ questions in common functional uses. “What” questions will be practiced in relation to common community signs and visuals as well as in relation to calendars, schedules, forecasts, and checklists. This unit also focus on important calendar vocabulary and concepts including how to write a digital date, coordinating months with the numerical abbreviation, weekdays vs. weekends, and today/tomorrow/yesterday. These concepts will practiced based on contrived situations and visuals as well within real time.

Goal: The goal of this unit is to improve the ability to answer ‘where’ questions in common functional uses. “Where” questions will be practiced in relation to community signs and visuals, in relation to functional text, and with common community based questions. Self-care vocabulary will be taught in this unit. The definition, use, and important details of these vocabulary words will be practiced in a multitude of ways. The words included are: wash, rinse, dry, shave, razor, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and soap.

Goal: The goal of this unit is to improve the ability to answer who, what, and where questions in common functional uses. All questions will be practiced in relation to community signs and visuals, in relation to functional text, and with common community based questions. The goal of this unit is to build discrimination skills between the question words. Cleaning vocabulary will be taught in this unit. The definition, use, and important details of these vocabulary words will be practiced in a multitude of ways. The words included are: wipe, dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, fold, washing machine, dryer, and dish washer.

Topics: feature, function, and class and kitchen vocabulary
Goal: The goal of this unit is to master sorting and matching by feature, function, and class in relation to real world texts, scenarios, and concepts. These concepts will be taught using functional and life-skill based exemplars. Kitchen vocabulary will be taught in this unit. The definition, use, and important details of these vocabulary words will be practiced in a multitude of ways. The words included are: measure, stir, bake, ingredients, preheat, spices, tablespoon, teaspoon, and cup.

Topics: describing using details and community travel vocabulary
Goals: The goal of this unit is to master describing items using adjectives and adverbs in relation to functional uses for how something looks, acts, and feels. These concepts will be taught using life-skill based exemplars. Community travel vocabulary will be taught in this unit. The definition, use, and important details of these vocabulary words will be practiced in a multitude of ways. The words included are: open, closed, map, traffic, directions, crosswalk, bus stop, train stop, and key.

Topics: basic inferences mechanic & repair vocabulary
Goal: The goal of this unit is to master identifying similarities and differences in a range of commonly seem community text examples including signs, labels, food packages, recipes, and more. Mechanic and repair vocabulary will be taught in this unit. The definition, use, and important details of these vocabulary words will be practiced in a multitude of ways. The words included are: batteries, light bulb, ladder, hammer, screw driver, nail, screw, plunger, and tape measure.

Topics: comprehending & using prepositions and money management vocabulary
Goal: The goal of this unit is to master the identification and appropriate use of prepositions in a functional way. Money management vocabulary will be taught in this unit.
