Goal: The goal of this unit is to increase grocery shopping related skills. The learner will work on categorizing within a grocery store, identifying price, and reading expiration dates. The unit also teaches paying via cash or credit.

Topics: identify item and price on a menu and restaurant behavior
Goal: The goal of this unit is to work on skills related to dining in the community. The unit teaches menu skills including choosing food and finding the price of an item. The unit teaches the identification of sit-down, fast food, and drive-through dining and the steps/skills needed for each. Learners will also identify appropriate restaurant behaviors.
October
Topics: sorting laundry, washer & dryer, putting clothes away, and seasonal clothes
Goal: The goal of this unit is to build laundry skills and independent dressing. This unit teaches how to sort light and dark laundry, steps for using a washer/dryer, using detergent, and putting clothes away. Learners also focus on matching clothes to season/weather.

Topics: cleaning vocab (function & use) and garbage
Goal: The goal of this unit is to teach cleaning skills for the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, and living room. Learners will focus on steps and supplies needed for each room.
December
Topics: kitchen safety, following a recipe, and functions of appliances
Goal: The goal of this unit is to build cooking and kitchen safety skills. The rules of kitchen safety will be learned and applied. This unit will also teach how to follow a recipe and the functions related to kitchen appliances.
January
Topics: public transportation rules and bike rules
Goals: The goal of this unit is to increase public transportation skills including biking and using the bus, train, taxi, and rideshare. Learners will review the rules and steps for each.
February
Topics: using tools, using batteries, and replacing light bulbs
Goal: The goal of this unit is to work on common household repairs by teaching important steps and vocabulary. This unit focuses on simple household repairs, tools, and their functions. This unit also teaches about using batteries.
March
Topics: internet safety rules, using passwords, and placing/receiving phone calls & texts
Goal: The goal of this unit is to build skills related to technology and phone use. Learners will review internet safety rules and internet vocabulary (WIFI, password, and login). This unit also teaches steps for making phone calls and texts.
