Welcome to the Joel P. Jensen Middle School Counseling Center website!
People often wonder what school counselors do on a daily basis. Gone are the days of counselors sitting in their office handing out college applications, making schedule changes, or meeting with troublemakers; today's school counselors are vital members of the education team! We help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development, and career development in an effort to ensure that today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow. Our duties include, but are not limited to:
Providing individual student academic planning and goal setting
School classroom lessons
Short-term counseling
Referrals for long-term support
Collaboration with families/teachers/administrators/community
Advocacy for students at student-focused meetings
Data analysis to identify student issues and school needs
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm unless otherwise noted on the Joel P. Jensen academic calendar. Please review the counselor contact information and, as always, feel free to contact us directly with questions or concerns.
