The VPA Ukulele Club is an exciting opportunity for 4th-6th grade students to grow as musicians beyond the music classroom. Open to students who are curious, creative, and committed, this club focuses on developing ukulele skills through fun and engaging music. We will explore strumming patterns, chords, ensemble playing, and even songwriting. Ukulele Club is a supportive space to make music, friends, and progess on an fun instrument.
All students must audition to be considered for the Ukulele Club. In addition to musical skill, students will need to demonstrate musical maturity such as following directions, accepting feedback, and showing up focused for the audition.
Potential ukulele students must demonstrate the following:
Confidence in strumming
Ability to find & strum the C, F, G7 & Am chords with teacher guidance.
Perseverance when learning a new skills.
Excellent behavior in class
The audition process is not meant to be intimidating but it allows Mrs. Crawford to sit one-on-one with each student and assess their musical skills. Students in ukulele club should be willing to work hard and excel on the skills we have already learned in music class.
Students in 4th-6th grade are eligible to audition for the VPA Ukulele Club. Students must complete the audition process to be considered. Auditioning does not guarantee that you will be selected.
Auditions will take place before school starting at 7:30 AM in the Music Room.
The VPA Choir will rehearse most Mondays before school starting at 7:30 AM in the Music Room. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, October 6.
The only required cost is the VPA Music Department t-shirt. Students do not need to purchase a ukulele to be part of Ukulele Club.
