Sign-Up for the VPA Piano Lab!

The VPA Piano Lab is open to students in all grades throughout the school year and is designed to help students build and strengthen basic piano and music-reading skills introduced in music class. Two Piano Lab groups will be offered before school beginning in September: 3rd–4th grade will meet on Wednesday mornings, and 5th–6th grade will meet on Monday mornings. Piano Lab registration for 3rd–6th grade will open on August 8 and remain open until all spots are filled. Registration for 1st–2nd grade Piano Lab will open on January 11.

Enrollment is first come, first served due to limited space and equipment, and some students may be placed on a waitlist. If the sign-up form is unavailable, it has been closed because the maximum number of registrations has been reached. To add your child to the waitlist, please email Mrs. Crawford. Please make sure your student is able to commit to attending before-school rehearsals regularly before signing up.

What is Piano Lab?

The VPA Piano Lab is open to students in all grades throughout the school year and meets before school at 7:30 AM. This opportunity is designed to help students build and strengthen basic piano and music-reading skills introduced in music class. Enrollment is first come, first served due to limited space and equipment, and some students may be placed on a waitlist.  

Piano Lab Expectations

Participation in the VPA Piano Lab is a privilege. Please sign-up only if you are willing to make a commitment to attending regularly and participating fully.  Students are expected to:

✓Arrive on time and be ready to learn at 7:30 AM

✓ Attend regularly

✓ Follow school and piano lab expectations

✓ Treat instruments and equipment with care

✓ Participate with a positive attitude

✓ Give their best effort to learning a new instruments

Attendance Policy

Enrollment is limited to the number of available pianos in the lab.  Students who accumulate two or more unexcused absences, demonstrate repeated behavior concerns, or show a lack of effort and participation may be removed from the program.  Students on the waiting list may be offered available openings.  

Cost?

The only cost to participate in the VPA Piano Lab is a t-shirt. Parents may also chose to purchase their child a piano book for at-home practice. T-shirt orders will be sent home in October!

Practice Expectations

Students may be limited to at-home practice due to not having a piano lab at home. The VPA Piano Lab will be open before and after school throughout the year for students to practice. Students may also have class time during music rotation to practice.  Please check the Class Dojo for practice dates!
