Students must complete and submit the following items online:

Memorandum of Understanding (includes student and parent signature)
Transcript or Letter of Recommendation (provided by JCPS)
Once a student submits a completed CCP application packet, it will be reviewed to determine if the student meets the eligibility requirements.
What is the Biowork Pre-Apprenticeship?
BioWork is a program to assist juniors and seniors in their efforts to prepare for a career in biotechnology. JCC's BioWork course is a 136-hour, non-credit certificate course (Continuing Education) that can lead to an entry-level position as a process technician.
Successful completion of the course in high school will earn the student:
A BioWork Certificate (This certificate allows for entry-level employment in a biotechnology career, equals 1 year of work experience with local Johnston County biopharmaceutical companies, and transfers as two courses (BPM110 Bioprocess Practices & PTC110 Industrial Environment) in related biotechnology degree programs at JCC.)
One (1) high school credit for CTE Pre-Apprenticeship MANU (BioWork)
The opportunity to apply for related apprenticeships during your senior year
Participant Criteria:
Must be a high school junior or senior during the 2024-25 school year
Must be 18 upon graduation to apply for any related apprenticeship opportunities
Must attend high school in Johnston County Public Schools
Must have a 2.8 GPA or a principal recommendation letter
Fees and Tuition:
Students will not be charged CAPS fees from JCC since the classes are being held at the high schools

The Caterpillar Assembly Pre-Apprenticeship Program is an 18-month program in Clayton, N.C. that prepares high school students for employment in a manufacturing assembly environment.
High school juniors accepted into the assembly pre-apprenticeship program will take free manufacturing-related classes at Johnston Community College (10 credit hours) as well as receive paid, on-the-job training and work experience at Caterpillar.
The Caterpillar Assembly Pre-Apprenticeship is a potential pathway into the Caterpillar Apprenticeship, which is a new post-high school program at the Caterpillar Clayton facility.
*Selected students earn 2 CTE Apprenticeship credits during their senior year
The 2024-25 application is due to Ms. Alford on Friday, September 20, 2024 by email or dropped off in Student Services
The program content will be delivered over 10 Saturdays between September 2024 and May 2025. The program includes some out of class assignments and may incorporate job shadowing experiences at one of the sponsoring utilities (town schedules permitting). Dates, topics and time frams are subject to change at the instructor's discretion. Students will be provided with ample notice of any changes that impact course dates.

High schools senior (not graduating early)
Attending high school in Johnston County
Commit to all scheduled sessions if selected
