homecoming week

The tradition of "Homecoming" first started at the University of Missouri in the early 1900s. It originally started when the university invited alumni back for the annual game against the University of Kansas. This is how “Homecoming” got its name. Curtis has many traditions leading up to homecoming week such as the pep rally where we do fun activities and celebrate the homecoming court, the spaghetti dinner where we recognize all fall sports, and last but not least the homecoming game, which we hold every Friday before the homecoming dance. Curtis also has a friendly competition against home rooms where everyone decorates their doors and the winners get the awesome prize of donuts! The real question is why do people dress up? Dressing up is everyone's favorite part of homecoming week, besides the dance. When we dress up it shows school pride and brings the Curtis community together! The dance is a great way to socialize and create great memories with friends! Just remember this week is still about academics, so try to balance your rhythm in school and the fun activities we have. We hope you enjoyed homecoming week and created lasting memories!
