Finish Strong!
By Ricardo Sequeira and Valet Dube
April has been an exciting month for the students of John Curtis. For starters, prom was a fantastic night for everyone involved. The night was fun and left a lasting impression on the juniors and seniors. Prom night ended with Jonah Cabrera winning prom king and Savannah Teague winning prom queen. April is the last entire month that the seniors have of high school before they are shipped off for college. Seniors have been counting down their last days of high school, invoking a melancholy feeling for the class as they are sad to leave but happy to take on a new adventure after graduation!
April is also the time of year that baseball, softball, and track teams fight for a chance to go home with a state championship! All of the teams are hungry to win a state championship, but it won't be easy! They've been practicing all year for the chance to fight, and now they are entering the ring in the playoffs! The entire month of April has been hectic with ACT testing and now final exams on the way, but there is some beauty in that chaos before students finally get to leave school behind for the summer!
Trey Curtis, a junior, recently earned a perfect 36 ACT composite score. Earning a 36 composite score on the ACT is an extremely rare and remarkable achievement. Less than 0.5% of the 1.3 million students who take the ACT each year earn a perfect score. The test consists of four parts: English, math, reading and science. Each part is scored on a scale of 1 to 36. A student’s composite is the average of the four scores.
