Which case should I purchase?
The school leaves this decision to the student and encourages respectable personalisation of the device.
We highly recommend students find a suitable case that:
is easy for them to use
allows them to store slips of paper inside the cover (e.g. permission slips)
allows access to all the ports
protects the back and corners
For students that purchase a tablet device, there are also case designs that incorporate keyboards, notepads and pen holders.
The label should contain:
First Name & Surname
Mentor Group
School
Contact details (email & mobile phone number).
Where possible we also recommend using a 'Wallpaper' on each device that contains the same details.
Malware and viruses can cause data loss and other problems. Students may choose to use an anti-virus program, and/or be vigilant in using their computers. The school's email system provides scanning from viruses, malware and phishing, and the Chrome web browser provides similar protections. However, no technical measure works 100%, and students should be vigilant when they are using networked computers.
Windows 10 includes Windows Defender which is a built-in anti-virus program, and is sufficient for most people.
The School provides students with a locker that is located in their House Area. This locker is used to store belonging before school, during recess and lunch and after school. These belongings include their devices, school bag and other personal belongings.
The School will provide every new student with a school issued combination-lock. Only JMSS-issued locks are to be used by students on school-lockers.
When available, students should enable location services on their personal devices and activate location tracking. Not only does this help you locate your missing phone, but depending on the device, it can allow you to play a sound, lock the device or erase data.
