議案１〜５は承認されました。

質問（保護者様より）

１、安全パトロールの人数と配置について。安全パトロールの方同士話していて、子供達を見ていない事があります。2人などの多数配置についての見直しが必要かと思います。

２、保護者立ち入り禁止はいつまで続くのでしょうか。COVID前までは保護者の待機室がありましたが、COVIDを境に立ち入り禁止になりました。解除されない理由は何でしょうか。

３、委員長以外はクラス当番免除は一回のみになったと聞きましたが、なぜでしょうか。

回答（PTA執行部より）

1. 安全パトロールの人数および配置について

パトロール中の私語により、児童・生徒の見守りが不十分になっているとのご指摘、厳粛に受け止めております。 本件につきましては、直ちに安全パトロール委員会と共有し、本来の目的である「生徒の安全確保」を最優先に、人員配置のあり方や活動中の規律について再確認・徹底を図ってまいります。貴重なご指摘をいただき、感謝申し上げます。

2. 校内への保護者立ち入り制限の継続理由について

以前のように保護者待機室を利用できない現状について、ご不便をおかけしております。 当初は感染症対策が主目的でございましたが、現在は一昨年に発生した海外での日本語補習校児童殺傷事件を受け、外務省およびボストン総領事館より、安全管理強化の強い要請が出ております。これを受け、学校管理職および理事会にて慎重に協議を重ねた結果、児童の安全を第一に考え、学校側の対応としまして現在の入校制限を継続させていただいております。

なお、今週5月2日（土）につきましては、e-Bostonでもご案内いたしました通り、3階カフェテリアを保護者控室として利用して頂けるよう学校側より許可を得ております。ぜひ保護者様同士の交流の場としてご活用ください。また、2学期の授業参観時など、限定的ではありますが、今後も機会を捉えて利用できるように検討、申請してまいります。

3. 委員のクラス当番免除回数の変更について

今年度の漢字検定委員会における免除規定の変更に関する件かと存じます。 執行部にて各委員会の活動実態を精査した際、当該委員会の主な活動日が検定当日に集約されているという現状を踏まえ、委員長との協議の結果、免除回数を1回へと変更させていただきました。 今年度の運用結果を年度末にしっかりと検証し、次年度以降の公平な当番体制に向けて、他の委員会も含め継続的に見直しを行っていく所存です。

今後とも、子どもたちが安心・安全に学べる環境づくりのため、ご理解とご協力を心よりお願い申し上げます。

According to Article VI of the PTA bylaws, since the majority of participants in the PTA General Meeting voted in favor, Proposal 1~5 has been approved.

Inquiries from Parents

1. Regarding the number and placement of Safety Patrol members:

I have noticed that Safety Patrol members are often talking to one another and not watching the children. I believe the current system of multi-person placement (such as groups of two) needs to be re-evaluated.

2. How long will the ban on parents entering the school continue?

Before COVID, there was a waiting room for parents, but access has been prohibited since the pandemic. What is the reason this restriction has not been lifted yet?

3. I heard that committee members (excluding the Chairperson) are now only exempt from class duty once. Why is this?

Responses to Parental Inquiries

1. Regarding the number and placement of Safety Patrol members We take your observation very seriously regarding instances where safety patrol members have been seen conversing with one another, leading to insufficient supervision of the students. We will immediately share this feedback with the Safety Patrol Committee. We will re-examine our staffing arrangements and reinforce the code of conduct during activities to ensure our primary goal—guaranteeing student safety—is prioritized. We sincerely thank you for bringing this to our attention.

2. Regarding the continued restriction on parents entering the school We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the current unavailability of the parent waiting room. While these restrictions were initially implemented as a COVID-19 countermeasure, the situation has changed. Following a tragic incident involving a student at a Japanese supplementary school overseas the year before last, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston have issued strong requests to strengthen safety management.

In response, school management and the Board of Directors have held careful discussions and decided to continue the current entry restrictions to prioritize student security.

However, as announced via e-Boston, we have received permission from the school to use the 3rd-floor cafeteria as a parent waiting area this Saturday, May 2. We encourage you to use this space for interaction. We will continue to request and consider opportunities for limited access in the future, such as during class observations in the second semester.

3. Regarding the change in "Class Duty" exemptions for Committee Members We believe this inquiry pertains to the recent change in exemption rules for the Kanji Kentei (Kanji Aptitude Test) Committee. After reviewing the actual activity levels of each committee, the Executive Board noted that the primary workload for this specific committee is concentrated on the day of the exam. Following discussions with the Committee Chair, it was decided to limit the exemption to one time.

We intend to carefully evaluate the results of this operation at the end of the school year. We will continue to review the system across all committees to ensure a fair and balanced duty rotation for the next school year.

All parents automatically become members upon their children entering JLS.

- Support and participate in PTA activities

- Attend the PTA General Meeting twice a year

- Understand and follow the Class Duty rotation schedule

- Understand and participate in the Class Representative Selection Process

- Assist with school events

クラス当番制度とは

安全パトロール当番・図書当番・ファーストエイド当番があり、小学部以上の生徒一人につき年数回割り当てられます。 子ども達が安心して有意義に学校生活を送れるように、保護者同士が協力して、学校･学級運営を支えるために不可欠な制度です。ボストン日本語学校保護者の義務として、責任を持って参加していただく必要があります。 

注）幼稚部や日本語部など一部のクラスでは、学校から保護者に依頼される、クラスヘルパーがあります。

The Class Duty System

Safety Patrol duty, Library duty are some of the duties assigned to the parents and guardians of students in elementary school and above. These are assigned several times per student per year. Details of each of these are defined by each committee.

Note: Kindergarten classrooms, Elementary 1st Grade, Japanese Language Division Levels 1 and 2 have what are called Classroom Helpers to assist the teacher. Being a Classroom Helper is a duty required by the School.

クラス役員選出制度

本校のクラス役員は、担任の事務的補助や、当番・ヘルパーの調整をするものですが、学級運営に不可欠であり、保護者が公平に担っていくべき役割です。希望者のいないクラスは、クラス役員選出基準により、公平で円滑にクラス役員を決定しています。

Selecting the Class Representative

Each year, a single Class Representative is selected from the parents and guardians of every class. Along with assisting the teachers’ general administrative duties, the Class Representative serves as an in-class coordinator for various school events and PTA activities with the continuous support of the Class Representative Coordinator and PTA Board.
