Thomas Sheraton (1751 – 22 October 1806) was a furniture designer, one of the "big three" English furniture makers of the 18th century. Sheraton gave his name to a style of furniture characterised by a feminine refinement of late Georgian styles and became the most powerful source of inspiration behind the furniture of the late 18th century. An example of this work is his four-part Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterers’ Drawing Book, which had a massive influence on English and American design. Sheraton is an appropriate label recognising a mastermind behind the period.
Sheraton is a great example of someone who was thinking outside of the box. His use of imagination and innovation allowed him to make a mark on history. This should encourage people in Sheraton house to always put pen to paper, and make ones thoughts a reality. Without people like Sheraton who have these brilliant, unique ideas, then our industry would be lagging behind. It’s important for us at JHGS to make our mark and change the future in the most innovative way possible.
