Trip Inclusions:
- Roundtrip coach air fare on a major US airline including 1 checked bag per person
- 2 nights accommodation at Hampton Inn Alexandria South
- All transportation throughout including local coach service and subways while in DC
- 1-way coach transfer from JCTMS to Louisville airport
- All meals throughout the trip – see attached itinerary

- Items of a personal nature

Itinerary: I know there will be changes; however, we will still do everything but in a different order. A detailed itinerary will be sent home one month before the trip.
Friday
- Depart from Jefferson County Traditional Middle School bound for Washington, D.C. via airplane (1.5 hour flight)
- Group will be transferred to Arundel Mills Mall and given a meal voucher or meal stipend for dinner
- Group will transfer through downtown DC to see the city by night with a monument photo stop at The US Marines memorial AKA The Iwo Jima Monument (if time allows).
- Group to arrive at hotel for check in
Saturday
- Group will have included breakfast at the hotel
- US Capitol and meet local tour guide
- Tour of the US Capitol including an introductory video, the dome, statuary hall and “The Crypt”
- Arlington National Cemetery for an opportunity to view the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and changing of the guard
- Lunch via meal voucher at L’Enfant Plaza shopping and dining center (or similar) via voucher OR 10.00 meal stipend
- Visit the monuments of DC (group will visit as many monument as possible in allotted time). Possible monuments are: Korean War Memorial, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Monument, Vietnam Veterans Memorial Monument, Martin Luther King Memorial Monument, F.D. Roosevelt Memorial Monument, Thomas Jefferson Memorial Monument, White House photograph stop (no entrance included)
- Group will have 1-way Washington by Water Sunset monuments boat cruise beginning at Georgetown Harbor to end at Alexandria VA
Sunday
- Mt. Vernon – the homestead of our 1st President—George Washington, tour of Mt. Vernon including the introductory video and interpretive center and entrance to the mansion
- Pentagon City Mall
- Subway ride from Pentagon City Mall to Smithsonian metro station.
- Group will have the opportunity to visit:, National Museum of American History, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of African American History
- Group will have included box lunch dinner on their way back to Baltimore Airport
Schedule of payments:
**A 3.5 percent discount applies to payments via cash, check or money order**
- August 26, 2019: $150.00 per person nonrefundable with form
- On or before October 17, 2019: $250.00 second installment payment
- On or before November 30, 2019: $250.00 third installment payment due
- On or before January 20, 2020: Full and final payment due
These are dates payments must be received in house. Reminder email will be sent approx. 2 weeks before due date.
Payments not received on time are subject to rate increases per Southwest Airlines.
Cancellation penalties:
Penalties are mandated by the airlines and under no circumstances will be waived. This includes voluntary or involuntary removal from the trip for any reason. Name changes are allowed subject to airline and TSA approval up to 1 week prior to departure. A fee up to 50.00 per name change may be incurred. Individual cancellations received from deposit through February 5, 2020 incur a 150.00 per cancelled passenger penalty. Individual cancellations made from February 6, 2020 through March 12, 2020 incur a 500.00 per cancelled passenger penalty. Individual cancellations made from March 13, 2020 through departure are nonrefundable.
All initial deposits are refundable until final price is set. Once airfare is calculated, if the price is higher than what was expected, deposit will be returned in full to those individuals who wish to withdraw. After the prices are set, communicated to guardians and parents, and agreed upon, the first payment is nonrefundable and the cancellation policy applies.
Behavior Requirement:
Students are expected to follow school rules and abide by classroom expectations, as well as, pass all of their classes for the year in order to attend the JCTMS 8th grade trip. Cell phones and electronic devices are not allowed on the trip. If at any time a student does not follow the school’s Student Support and Behavior Intervention Handbook and is suspended, even one day, he or she is no longer eligible to attend the Washington D.C. trip. The refund policy will apply to the date on the referral to determine the refundable amount by the travel agency.
Cost per student or chaperone:
Rates are based on a minimum of 40 paying passengers per coach.
- 3 or 4 per room: $805 per person
- 2 per room: $875 per person
- 1 per room: $1025 per person
Final cost cannot be determined until flight costs are included. Flight availability does open until end of August; however, for us to reserve seats we need initial deposit. Once final cost is confirmed and a party wants to back out, they may. After deadline, parents are locked into agreement penalties.
