1. Problema y Solución (Gist/Problem & Solution)

• Novice Low / Mid

  • Puedo señalar el problema de la historia con dibujos o frases muy simples. (I can point out the story's problem using drawings or very simple phrases.)

• Novice High:

  • Puedo identificar el problema y la solución usando oraciones sencillas y palabras clave. (I can identify the problem and solution using simple sentences and key words.)

• Intermediate Low:

  • Puedo explicar en mis propias palabras la causa del conflicto y los pasos que llevaron a la solución. (I can explain in my own words the cause of the conflict and the steps that led to the solution.)

2. Palabras Nuevas (Vocabulary Strategies)

• Novice Low / Mid:

  • Puedo usar imágenes o cognados para adivinar el significado de una palabra nueva. (I can use pictures or cognates to guess the meaning of a new word.)

• Novice High:

  • Puedo buscar pistas en las palabras que ya conozco para entender una palabra desconocida. (I can look for clues in words I already know to understand an unfamiliar word.)

• Intermediate Low:

  • Puedo usar el contexto de la oración y el párrafo para deducir el significado de una palabra nueva. (I can use sentence and paragraph context to infer the meaning of a new word.)

3. Tema de la Historia (Theme)

• Novice Low / Mid:

  • Puedo reconocer la lección principal usando una frase modelo (ej. "La historia nos enseña a..."). (I can recognize the main lesson using a sentence frame [e.g., "The story teaches us to..."].)

• Novice High:

  • Puedo identificar el mensaje principal de la historia y relacionarlo con una palabra clave. (I can identify the main message of the story and connect it to a key word.)

• Intermediate Low:

  • Puedo explicar el tema o mensaje central del autor apoyándome en las acciones de los personajes. (I can explain the author's main theme or message using the characters' actions as support.)

4. Reacción a la Lectura (Response to Reading)

• Novice Low / Mid:

  • Puedo decir si me gustó la historia y dibujar mi parte favorita. (I can say if I liked the story and draw my favorite part.)

• Novice High:

  • Puedo expresar mi opinión sobre la lectura y dar una razón básica ("Me gustó porque...").(I can express my opinion about the reading and give a basic reason [* "I liked it because..." *].)

• Intermediate Low:

  • Puedo compartir mi reacción al texto, comparando la historia con mi vida o mi comunidad. (I can share my reaction to the text, comparing the story to my life or my community.)
