Scholastic Book Orders

I will be sending home Scholastic Books Order Forms quarterly.  This is the best way to buy books for your child.  The book orders sell books much cheaper than the bookstores.  Our classroom also can earn Bonus Points to purchase items for the classroom when students buy books.  It is a great way to start a home library for your child/ren and your books can be delivered right to your house!  You can order books directly online, or you can send the order forms back to school in your child’s daily folder with a check made out to Scholastic Books.  Our classroom code is J-2N900 if you choose to order online

Health

Snacks - Please send in a snack for 20 kids once a month.  Check the Ryan handbook or website for the list of approved snacks.  Fresh fruit (grapes, bananas, cuties, apples) are also great options.

Sick Kiddos:  As cold and flu season approaches, we ask that you keep sick kiddos home for the appropriate amount of time to avoid the spread of germs to other kids and adults in the building.  If your child has a fever, diarrhea, or is vomiting, they need to be fever, diarrhea, and vomit free for 24 hours before they can come back to school.

Rest Time

We will have a rest time every day for 1 hour.  Some kids fall asleep, others do not.  If a student does not sleep they will be able to look at books or play with something quiet at their cot.  Please send a crib sized sheet, blanket, and a small stuffy (these are suggestion, just things for them to lay comfortably) in an 18 quart bin to be kept at school for the year. We will send them home each week on Friday to have the things washed. Please send them back again the following Monday for your child to use again.

Birthdays

Due to the numerous allergies student could have, Jefferson County Public Schools has enforced a rule of not bringing in birthday treats on a students birthday. One fun way we celebrate is on the student’s birthday, a parent, grandparent, older sibling, anyone they want, can come in a read a favorite book to the class!  Many families donate the book to the classroom library, but that is completely optional. 

Students should not pass out birthday invitations or goodie bags at school, but we are happy to put them in daily folders for you at the end of the day.
