We are Rapids Robotics. We are a robotics team for First Lego League. It is more than just robotics, and includes things like core values and an engineering solution. We are a four person team who know each other from soccer. We decided to create a robotics team FLL (short for First Lego League). Our competition date is/was on November 18, 2017. With FLL, there are three main parts to the competition : the robot game, the project and core values. This year's theme for FLL, is hydrodyamics, which involved water. Each one plays a specific role in each successful robotics team. First, is the robot game ; it is when we create and program a Lego Mindstorms EV3 robot to do challenges on a mat. These challenges can include pushing thing, dropping thing off, and turning items. Next, is the project. In the project, we find a engineering problem that is part of the human water cycle. This includes, how we get our water, how we use it, and how we dispose it. For our project, we found the problem of storm-water being dirty. Our solution for this is to make a filter inside of the inlet using gravel, pebbles, and activated charcoal, as well as air filters to filter the water. Last is core values. In core values the judges at the competition observe how your team works together if your respectful or rude. The better your team works together and your spirit is what the judges grade you on.
