Chatfield HS Quit For Cash
Students at Chatfield High school put together goodie bags with gift cards for students who turned in their tobacco devices. They included a pledge card, and the students got to pick how long they needed to quit their devices. Then a staff member used the pledge cards to follow up with the students. This was a very successful way to encourage students to quit in a positive manner, with no punishment.
Helpful tip: Jeffco's policy prohibits school funds being used for gift cards. But businesses can donate gift cards to schools. Chatfield sent students out with letters on school letterhead. It talked about their program, what the gift cards were for, and how the businesses could help. They had success with most of the businesses. Good luck!
