Concert Bands

The concert band program is the heart of the Columbine Band Program. We have two primary concert bands: Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Students are placed into Symphonic Band until they audition into Wind Ensemble, which takes place every year in March. We also have a fall Concert Band for those who are not in the marching band.

Concert Band (Semester 1, Open to Students not in Marching Band):

The Concert Band is offered in the fall and is for any band student who is not participating in the marching band. We prepare intermediate level concert band literature while focusily heavily on fundamental skill development and introductory music theory. This group participates in two fall concerts and sets students up for the spring semester.

Symphonic Band (Semester 2, After Marching Band Season):

The Symphonic Band is the band for all intermediate students. We prepare intermediate level concert band literature while focusing heavily on fundamental skill development to prepare students to eventually move up into the top ensemble. This group participates in concerts and the annual CBA Concert Band Festival.

Wind Ensemble (Semester 2, After Marching Band Season):

The Wind Ensemble is the top audition-only band for advanced students. The Wind Ensemble consistently participates in the CBA State Concert Band Festival and has earned various superior ratings throughout the last five years. We prepare intermediate/advanced level concert band literature while focusing on musicianship and artistry.  This high level group participates in concerts and the annual CBA Concert Band Festival. Private lessons are HIGHLY recommended for members of this group.
