About Us

The Green Mountain High School (GMHS) bands program has built a strong tradition in excellence. The program represents 110 students performing as dedicated members of the high school's concert and symphonic bands, jazz ensemble, percussion ensemble, competitive winter guard team, and competitive marching band. GMHS band students are consistently selected for All-County and All-State honor bands. GMHS band students also support other high school activities, serving as the pep band for basketball and football games and the pit orchestra for musicals.

The GMHS Marching Rams demonstrate excellence both on and off the field and have been consistent top competitors, earning many marching titles at local and regional competitions. They were Colorado State Marching Band Finalists 27 years in a row, the longest consecutive streak in the state! The GMHS Marching Rams have been Regional Marching Band Champions 17 times and State Marching Band Champions twice. In 2014 and 2015, they took 3rd place at the Colorado State Championships. The Marching Rams currently compete in the Colorado Bandmasters Association's class 3A.

The GMHS Winter Guard won the Rocky Mountain Color Guard Association's Regional A Class Championships in 2013 and 2014.

In 2009, Green Mountain competed in the All American Music Festival in Orlando, Florida, taking second place overall, and marched through Disney World representing Colorado. At this same competition, the GMHS percussion ensemble won first in the nation! In 2011, the Marching Rams competed in the NMSU Tournament of Bands in Las Cruces. In 2014, the Marching Rams performed at Disneyland and in 2016, they traveled to New York City and performed on the USS Intrepid. The GMHS bands program brings prestige to the Green Mountain area and is a source of pride for all Green Mountain High School students, parents, teachers, and employees.

The hard work and dedication of the GMHS band students is what makes the program so consistently successful. We are building tomorrow’s leaders.
