Athletes

All athletes registered for the Columbine Boys Tennis Team are expected to:

• Maintain  solid academic performance

  • Stay on top of homework, projects and tests

  • Communicate with Coaches if there is a concern about grades or tennis impacting school performance

• Attend all practices on time

  • If there are conflicts with practices or activities for other athletics or groups, please talk to the coach

  • For Varsity players participation in matches is expected to take priority over other practices or school club activities.  Please see the coach if you have questions.   

• Attend all matches on time (30 minutes prior to match start)

• Attend team events during the season

• Practice Good Sportsmanship

  • Call the score clearly prior to each point

  • Make line calls audible for opponents and spectators

  • Give the benefit of the doubt to your opponent on line calls

  • Make eye contact with your opponent during introductions, change-overs, and at the completion of your match.  

  • Win and lose gracefully and maintain dignity.

• If there is an issue or a question about a call that players cannot resolve, get a coach's attention to help resolve the issue.  

• Support your doubles partners and teammates, including remaining at matches until all matches are fully concluded.

• Take care of the facilities - please keep the courts and the area around them clean.  Pick up trash, keep gates closed, etc.

• Work hard, have fun, and improve!!

Athletes will need:

• Rackets (at least 2 for Varsity players, 1 for JV)

• Team Bag (provided by coach once varsity players are determined)

  • This MUST be returned at the end of the season

• Water Bottle - we play during some hot days, water IS A MUST!!!

• Team Uniform for Matches
