DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON THE CHSAA SCHEDULE WHICH IS NOT AVAILABLE YET

Prior to the season we will have a parent information meeting.  Please keep checking here for the date and time of that meeting.  We usually hold it at Clement Park in one of the shelters available.  

The season is likely to begin on August 5th, with tryouts starting that day.  The first match can be as early as August 8th.  The season schedule will be posted on this site when it is available.  

Players will play 12 matches.  Most will be matches in a dual format where Columbine will play the team from another high school.  There may be 1 or more tournaments in which players are placed in a draw to face opponents from several other schools to determine winners at each position (1S - 4D).  

There are Varsity and JV teams.  The Varsity team consists of 3 singles  and 4 doubles positions (11 players).  The Varsity team plays matches of the best 2 out of 3 sets.  Some matches will include a full third set while others may have a 10 point tiebreaker in place of a third set.  The JV team will consist of doubles teams playing 1 or 2 sets against possibly multiple opponents from the other school.  

The season runs for about 6 weeks with matches scheduled almost every other weekday.  Students are typically excused from the last class of the day for away matches, and some home matches.  All athletes are expected to be present at all matches through completion of the entire team match.  Tournaments can be more of a com-and-go at will, though it is encouraged to support your teammates if they are playing.

There are several events at which participation is expected for all athletes:

Practices are held each weekday at 3:45 at the courts at school.  Practices typically conclude by 6 pm.  Changes and cancellations are posted in TeamSnap.  All registered athletes are expected to attend all practices.
