The AI Learning Commons Writing Lab provides students with assistance on their papers, projects, reports, multi-media projects, web pages, and other projects across all content areas. Our writing center offers individualized conferencing where Mrs. Miller offers feedback on the piece of writing at hand. Her main function is to discuss how the piece of writing might be revised. Think of it like a place of collaboration in which we will work together to help the student achieve their goals. The purpose of the writing lab is to produce better writers, not better writing, so we will focus on how to empower you to be a better writer, not just improve the project you are seeking feedback on.
First, check with your teacher ahead of time to plan a 20 minute period to leave your class for your session. Next, use this link to the Library Writing Lab Google Calendar to schedule yourself.
When you click the link, add the library calendar to your Google Calendar list:
You will see the library Calendar show up on your list
Go to the appointment page of the calendar and select the time slot that will work for you. It will automatically notify us of the appointment and we will expect you.
You can always hide the library calendar so that it doesn't show when you go to your Calendars
Lastly, be sure to bring your rubric, and know what you would like to receive feedback for (research guidance, organizational support, etc.). Then, just show up to the library circulation desk for your scheduled appointment!
Below are some great online resources for you to explore to become a better writer. The Online Writing Lab from Purdue University houses writing resources and instructional material. Students, members of the community, and users worldwide will find information to assist with many writing projects.
A guide to the New 9th Edition of the MLA (Modern Language Association) Handbook is also linked below. You can find the printed copy at the circulation desk of the library.
