This course focuses on the development of performance skills specific to percussive instruments. Students participate in in-depth studies of percussion literature, concert band literature and marching band literature.
Performances include school concerts, marching band performances, contests and festivals.
Every effort is made to enable the student to grow musically and to perform to their potential. Enrollment is not limited and entry auditions are not required.
Students are also eligible to participate in extra-curricular musical events such as Winter Percussion, Pep Band and auditions for Jeffco Honor Band, All-State Band and other honor ensembles.
Additional private study is strongly encouraged.

Every student should have a pair of concert snare sticks in good condition (no nicks or splintering) to be used for on-the-head-only playing, and at least a second set of sticks for drum set and/or 'specialty' playing on the rim, cymbal edges, etc.
