This course focuses on the development of performance skills specific to jazz performance. Students participate in in-depth studies of jazz literature, theory and improvisation. Performances include school concerts, community events, contests and festivals.
Every effort is made to enable the student to grow musically and to perform to their potential. Entry to this class is by audition only. Students are also eligible to participate in extra-curricular musical events such as Winter Percussion, Pep Band, pit orchestra for the musical and auditions for Jeffco Honor Jazz Band, the All-State Jazz Band, and other jazz organizations.
Additional private study is strongly encouraged.

All supplies pertaining specifically to their instrument (i.e. reeds, valve oil, etc)
Tuners and metronomes are required (may use free app downloaded to phone)

Students will be expected to keep their instruments in working condition, clean instruments regularly (weekly and monthly) and facilitate repairs immediately
