Dual Enrollment

Classes listed below are offered at FHS through Jefferson State Community College and taught by our FHS staff. Scholarships are available through JSCC or Jefferson County Board of Education depending on funding. See JSCC Dual Enrollment Page for details regarding scholarships. 

ENG 101/EH 101

English Composition 1 

Prerequisite:  GPA of 3.0 or higher. A sub-score of 18 or higher on the English section of the ACT or ACCUPLACER score of 5 (test is given through Jefferson State or any community college). Students must place for ENG 101 through one of these two tests prior to being enrolled in the course.  

High School Equivalent: English 11 OR English 12

ENG 102/EH 102

English Composition 2

Prerequisite: GPA of 3.0 or higher. A grade of "C" or better in ENG 101

High School Equivalent: English 12

HIS 201

US History 1

High School Equivalent: US History I

Prerequisite: GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

HIS 202

US History 2

High School Equivalent: US History II

Prerequisite: GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

Other Academic Dual Enrollment classes offered through Jefferson State Community College: STEM Scholarships are available at this time for these classes through JSCC but may not always be available. Courses can be taken during the summer as well.  See JSCC Website for application deadlines.

MTH 100

Intermediate College Algebra

Prerequisites: GPA of 3.0 or higher. A sub-score of 18 or higher on the Math section of the ACT or ACCUPLACER score 253 or higher (test is given through Jefferson State or any community college). Students must place through one of these two tests prior to being enrolled in the course.  

This course does not apply toward the general core requirement for mathematics.

High School Equivalent: 4th Math requirement

 MTH 110

Finite Math 

Prerequisites: GPA of 3.0 or higher. A sub-score of 18 or higher on the Math section of the ACT or ACCUPLACER score 253 or higher (test is given through Jefferson State or any community college). Students must place through one of these two tests prior to being enrolled in the course.  This course is intended to be taken primarily by students who are not majoring in science, engineering, commerce, or mathematics (i.e. students who are not required to take Calculus).

This course does not apply toward the general core requirement for mathematics.

High School Equivalent: 4th Math requirement

MTH 112 Precalculus Algebra

Prerequisites: GPA of 3.0 or higher.  ACT Math sub score of 20 or higher AND “C” or higher in high school Algebra 2 or Precalculus or Calculus OR 24-25 Math sub score. Another placement option is the ACCUPLACER with a placement score of 267 .

High School Equivalent: 4th Math requirement

BIO 101

Introduction to Biology 1  

Prerequisites: GPA of 3.0 or higher.  This course is the first of a two-course sequence for non-science majors. A 120 minute lab is required. 

High School Equivalent: 3rd or 4th Science requirement
