Chess Club

Chess club Is here! Starting November 16th on Tuesdays from 2:50 to 4:00pm. Make sure you have a ride to get home if you are planning on doing the club. You will get to challenge your friends and fellow classmates to a game. If you don’t know how to play that’s okay, Mr Meyer and Mr O’Brien will help you learn to play and our chess experts will give you some strategies to destroy on the playing field. See you on the board.

GSA: the New Student-Led Club Welcoming All

There’s a new club at school! It’s called the GSA, or Gay Straight Alliance. It’s a student led club driving towards acceptance of all individuals of the LGBTQ+ individuals. This year is its second year, but first year being fully planned out. It’s led by Onyx Mendez and Paige Neighbors, who work very hard to make fun games and challenges to do during meetings. It’s a club whose purpose is to meet accepting people and have fun. During some meetings, there are activities, and during others members can just do homework and use it as a social period.

The club runs every week on Thursdays, and has about a dozen members at the moment. The school counselors are always present, and ready to step in if a problem occurs. The GSA also makes it very clear that they have a zero-tolerance rule of homophobia and transphobia, and anyone practicing these will be immediately booted from the club.

If you miss a few meetings, it is totally fine. You might miss an activity, but nothing is required and it’s all fun. Anyone is welcome, no matter your gender identity or sexuality.

You can join the club very easily if you have a ride home by simply going to Mr. O’Brien’s room at 3:00 on a Thursday. It goes until 3:30, and the club would welcome you with open arms!
