My final project contained 2 total parts. The first was getting my certificate and passing the course to be a student-based consent peer educator. Which took about a month to complete and contained videos, articles and quizzes both written and multiple choice. Provided by the SAFEBAE website, a by students, for students online curriculum open to all those in school who are looking to become peer educators. Upon completing this, I looked to see how I could widely broadcast what I learned in a bit-size sample, containing the most important parts/facts I think are neccessary for all seniors as we step into adulthood. While I originally intended to collaborate with the Red Cross club at JD to get volunteers to physically present in senior classrooms, that eventually fell through. Due to end of year scheduling overlaps and coordinating what volunteers would go into what classes at which times. Upon facing this dilemma I felt at a loss and became nervous due to the upcoming deadlines. Ultimately, I settled on creating a video for my school's announcements that mimicked what would have been said to classes verbally but now as a video. I included interviews with teachers and got members of the Red Cross club to help me out with it in order to give a more professional feel. The video contained what sexual violence is, how it effects society/what contributes to it, supporting survivors, methods of reporting and tips for staying safe for seniors who are freshly going to live in the real world.
