What is Financial Aid?

Financial aid is all of the monetary help that you can get to help you pay for college. This money can come from the Federal Government, the State Government, Scholarships, and/or Federal and Private Loans.

There are three types of aid that you can receive from these various sources:

  1. Gift Aid (free)

  2. Work (earn)

  3. Loans (pay back)

Where do I get this financial aid?

Apply, apply, apply! There are 2 applications that award you financial aid: FAFSA and CA Dream Act. The CSS Profile is a supplemental financial aid application you do for private schools so that they can figure out how much aid you qualify in order to attend their school.

Cash For College

Cash for College is a series of FREE financial aid workshops for parents and students to attend. They will have a chance to finish and submit their FAFSA/CA Dream Act applications with the guidance of trained Educational Advisors and volunteers.

What do I need to bring to A Cash for College Event?

Be sure to bring your parents federal income tax returns (e.g. 2018), records of investments, and the social security number for each family member (if applicable).
