Create a GAFutures account. (used for sending transcripts and funding)
Apply to the college. UNG / Lanier Tech
Once notified by the college that you have been accepted, email your school’s DE Coordinator to set up a meeting.
UNG = allie.meeks@jcss.us
Lanier Tech = linda.le@jcss.us
You’ll receive an email back with a scheduled time to meet. During the meeting you will fill out the DE Funding Application through GAfutures. This ensures your courses are paid for. You’ll also look over how DE grades appear on your transcript. Be sure to bring with you the following:
Chromebook, Driver’s License/Learner’s Permit
List of college classes you might be interested in
Following this meeting, consult with your College Advisor (UNG or LT) to set up your schedule.
Submit a copy of your college schedule to the school’s DE Coordinator that you met with (Ms. Meeks or Ms. Le) as soon as you receive it.
DUAL ENROLLMENT GRADING
Letter/alpha grades are typically assigned by the postsecondary institution on the student’s official college transcript (A, B, C, etc.). These grades need to be converted to a numeric grade to reflect on the student’s high school transcript and GPA calculations. (The 10 quality points that are added to students' final averages for taking AP/DE courses will be added when the counselor posts the DE grades to the student transcript.) Please refer to the chart BELOW to see how Jackson County Schools converts this letter grade to a numeric grade.
Note:
You are not only adding to your high school record/transcript, you are building your college portfolio. If you fail a dual enrollment course, your college record will permanently reflect a failing grade when future employers require you to submit a transcript from all schools that you attended.
