About This Curriculum:
Overview:
Zearn! Math is a standards-aligned digital computer math curriculum for grades K-8. Through a combination of effective interactive lessons and paper practice in a consumable workbook, students work towards mastering math concepts in a fun and positive way.
Ranking:
Zearn Math is ranked the highest in math curriculum for grades 1-5 according to www.edreports.org. Ed Reports analyzes three domains: 1) Focus and Coherence; 2) Rigor & Mathematical Practices; 3) Usability. Zearn Math received 100% rankings in Focus and Coherence, 89% in Rigor and Mathematical Practices, and 89% in Usability. A Typical Lesson Includes:
Daily Word Problem
15-20 minute Zearn lesson on the computer
15-20 minute lesson using problem set worksheet followed by independent practice with the homework pages.
JCS Teacher to-do list to get started with Zearn: (Tutorials embedded into the steps)
Email your principal for a Zearn account
Create a Zearn Class named “Last Name Math” (Only need one class per teacher, not per grade level)
Add your student to your Zearn Class
Note your Class Code
Note your student’s username and password
Make a copy of this document to share with your family to provide them with their log-in information and additional digital resources students will need.
Check in with your students weekly to check on progress by accessing your student reports
Parent to-do list to get started with Zearn:
Dedicate 45-60 minutes of your day 4 days/week to complete Zearn lessons
Familiarize yourself with the various resources from Zearn to see how they are used
Use the pacing guide to map out your first semester of math
Begin brainstorming how you would like to use your 5th “flex day” of math
Coordinate with your EF to get the ordered materials for your student
