YouTube is a powerful resource for video content. However, like most things on the Internet, we need to filter access to this resource to protect our students. We are able to filter YouTube by using our student Google accounts. This is one reason why claiming these accounts is vital. Students cannot access video content without being signed into YouTube with the student's account. These instructions will cover signing into your JCPS Google account for faculty, staff, and students.

If faculty and staff would like additional control over YouTube content, you can become a YouTube District approver. This gives approvers the ability to approve videos for our district. The only caveat is that when videos are approved, they are approved district-wide, K-12. Please be sure before approving videos that the content is carefully considered.
To become a YouTube Approver, follow the steps below:
Enroll in the course and complete Google’s Digital Citizenship for Teachers Training.
Go to the Canvas Discussion board and upload a screenshot of your completion screen
Email Carla McAllister (cmcallister@jcpsmail.org) or April DeBord (adebord@jcpsmail.org) to be added to the approver group.
