The American Heart Association has launched a youth-driven “Tobacco Endgame” site to empower young people to identify and reject the harmful impacts of tobacco in their communities. Anyone 13+ can register to join the movement to end tobacco and nicotine addiction, giving them the opportunity to connect directly with policymakers, learn how they can create healthier communities through public policy change and gain important experience as a community leader and voice for their peers.
What can you do? Join the campaign today and help us reach our goal of engaging 1,000 youth and young adults in the Tobacco Endgame movement by August 31st! While the ideal audience is youth and young adults 13-24 or so, we also strongly encourage adults to sign up (even those who are already a You’re The Cure member).
NOT for Me: Announce the launch of American Lung Association’s NOT for Me, a self-guided, mobile-friendly web-based program that gives teens the resources to quit vaping, smoking or chewing tobacco products. This new digital modality is based off our Not On Tobacco (N-O-T)® youth cessation in-person group program curriculum which has 25 years of proven success in helping young tobacco users gain strength, health and freedom from nicotine addiction and tobacco dependency. NOT for Me offers a six-week program including eight self-paced sessions which may be utilized by youth remotely to best serve those teens who may not have access to a local Not On Tobacco (N-O-T)® program facilitator or feel comfortable participating in a group format. American Lung Association’s NOT for Me web-based program is available at no cost at NOTforMe.org. Additional information, including a brief introductory overview is available at NOTforMe.org. If you have any questions please never hesitate to reach out to us at NOT@Lung.org.
