Week 4: Sept. 11

Monday: Today students practiced identifying techniques within their peers' memoirs. We then focused on identifying emotion within a memoir regarding the tragic events of 9/11. Students were to finish annotating the emotions of the memoir and identify 3 techniques (connotation, imagery, metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, alliteration, etc.) that helped to create that emotion. Today's powerpoint can be found here.

Tuesday: Today students annotated the emotion present in their classmate's object memoir. We then practiced creating emotion by using the details and techniques we have been studying in class. Students were instructed to include and label 3 techniques they were using in their draft and 5 details that contributed to this emotion. Students then reflected on their Writer's Notebook this far and bookmarked memoir drafts that they might want to revise for publication. Today's powerpoint can be found here.
