FAST Assessments Overview:
aReading:
Students are assessed in the fall, winter, and spring. It is a computer-administered adaptive screener that measures broad reading ability and predicts overall reading achievement. Items developed for middle school grade levels target:
Orthography
Morphology
Vocabulary
Comprehension
CBM-Reading:
Students are assessed in the fall, winter, and spring. It measures a student’s proficiency in the following Foundational Skills subcategories:
Print Concepts is the organization and basic feature of print.
Phonological Awareness is the understanding of spoken word syllables and sounds or phonemes.
Phonics and Word Recognition is the application of grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
Fluency refers to reading on-level texts with sufficient purpose, accuracy, and fluency to support comprehension.
aMath:
Students are assessed in the fall, winter, and spring. it is a simple and efficient procedure for screening students’ broad math abilities. The assessment is based on expert recommendations and each question is aligned with the National Common Core State Standards (2010). aMath is a computer-adaptive test and students respond to between 30 and 60 questions on each testing occasion. Students are assessed over the following domains:
