National Grants

The NEA Foundation - The NEA Foundation provides grants to improve the academic achievement of students in U.S. public schools and public higher education institutions in any subject area(s). The proposed work should engage students in critical thinking and problem solving that deepen their knowledge of standards-based subject matter. The work should also improve students’ habits of inquiry, self-directed learning, and critical reflection.

Literacy

Literacy

Toys for Tots for Literacy Program - The Marine Toys for Tots Foundation’s Literacy Program offers books and other resources to organizations that provide educational and emotional support to economically disadvantaged children. Applicants must demonstrate that a significant portion of the children the organization supports live at or near the poverty level. Deadline is rolling.

Target Early Childhood Reading Grants - Target provides Early Childhood Reading Grants to programs, such as weekend book clubs and after school reading programs, that foster a love of reading and encourage children, from birth through age 9 to read together with their families. Application deadlines will be posted March 1. Grant amounts are $1,000 - $3,000.

Advanced Manufacturing

The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) – Office of Skills Development (OSD) released a new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Education Equipment Grant Program Announcement (GPA), making up to $500,000 in grants available to Wisconsin school districts to train students for careers in advanced manufacturing under Governor Walker's recently expanded Wisconsin Fast Forward (WFF) program.

The purpose of the grant is to reimburse school districts for the purchase and installation costs of technical education equipment used in vocational training and technical education in advanced manufacturing fields, including costs for equipment operation software and instructional materials to train students. Funds also may be used to pay for technical education building modifications to accommodate the equipment and to support advanced manufacturing technical education programs. Details follow:

Deadline to Apply: May 15, 2018, 3:00pm

Award Amount: $5,000 to $50,000

Awarded school districts must provide matching funds equal to 200 percent of the awarded grant amount in the form of money or the monetary value of equipment that is contributed from private sources, the school district or both.

STEM

Verizon Foundation Grants - Verizon is using technology to prepare students for success in the 21st century. Their comprehensive strategy leverages mobile technology, award-winning free digital content, and teacher training for schools and organizations; all focused on increasing student interest and achievement in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math).

http://www.gtech.com/about_gtech/proposal_guidelines.asp - The GTECH After School Advantage program provides non-profit agencies with state-of-the art, Internet ready computer centers. For each After School Advantage program, GTECH donates an average of $15,000 in state-of-the-art computers, online technology, software, and volunteer hours. Proposals are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

Environment

http://www.plt.org - American Forest Foundation – Project Learning Tree - Project Learning Tree is a program designed for youth from preschool through grade 12 that engage students in environmental service-learning projects to improve their schools and surrounding communities. Grants are in amounts from $250 to $5,000.

Literacy

www.lisalibraries.org - The Lisa Libraries Foundation donates new children's books and small libraries to organizations that work with kids in poor and under-served areas. To request books, write to the Foundation explaining how your organization would use the books to help children.

http://foundation.verizon.com/grant/guidelines.shtml - Verizon Foundation - Funding areas: Education, Literacy, Domestic Violence Prevention , Healthcare and Accessibility, Internet Safety. Proposals are reviewed ongoing from January 1 through October 31 annually.

Nutrition

http://loveyourveggies.com/school_grants.php - Hidden Valley and the School Nutrition Foundation - The Love Your Veggies™ Nationwide School Lunch Campaign provides $10,000 grants to elementary schools nationwide to support increased access to, and consumption of, fresh vegetables and fruits during school meals. While the deadline for application submissions for this year has passed, schools are encouraged to keep their eyes and ears open for future Love Your Veggies™ campaign programs.

Robotics

https://dpi.wi.gov/stem/grants/robotic-league - With the recent signing of the biennial budget we are pleased to announce funding for participation in robotics competitions. Under this appropriation, grant awards will be available of up to $5,000 to public schools, 2R and 2X charter schools, private schools and home-based educational programs to facilitate participation in robotics competitions. Eligible teams include students in grades 9 through 12 and have at least one mentor. Allowable expense will include fees, kits, supplies required to participate in robotics competitions, travel expenses, and a stipend for the mentor of an eligible team.

The grant period will be in the 2017 – 2018 school year, with all funds being spent by June 30, 2018. All applications must demonstrate an equal amount of matching funds.

Science

http://www.aiaa.org/content.cfm?pageid=216 - American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Foundation Classroom Grants - Up to $200 per individual request to supplement learning programs in science, mathematics, and technology. Each school is limited to up to $1,000 per calendar year. Grants are considered on a quarterly basis in January, March, June, and September and must be received one month prior to be considered for the upcoming cycle.

Student applicants must be nominated by an educator or guidance counselor within their academic community.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest any time during the year.

http://4-h.org/grants.html - National 4-H Council offers grants to 4-H programs in local communities, in counties, and on the state level. These grants provide opportunities for young people and adults to take action on issues critical to their lives, their families, and their communities. Youth and adults work in partnership in the design of the project, the proposal writing process, the implementation, and the evaluation of funded projects. Grants are awarded to 4-H Extension groups and are not available to individuals.

http://ojjdp.ncjrs.org/ - Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Programs - OJJDP is the federal government’s juvenile justice agency. Can get information on federal funding opportunities by selecting “Grants and Funding.” There is also information on resources, programs and publications.

We will support programs that build awareness of postsecondary education and career options, increase academic readiness for college level work, assist students through the college search, application and financial aid process, and provide financial education to families about saving for college and options for financing a college education.

The foundation is especially interested in programs that address children, youth and family issues, and emphasize traditional values such as hard work, education and self-reliance. In regards to education, the foundation seeks to fund programs that: strengthen higher education and increase its availability, increase adult literacy, and improve the quality of education. Previous grants ranged from $500 to $100,000.
