The band played patriotic selections for the American Legion Veterans Day Program and middle school band students helped honor each branch of the military by presenting the flags. Thank you band for honoring our veterans and thank you veterans for your service.
The band marched in the TTU Homecoming Parade and stayed to watch alumni Johnathan Haney, Darrell (DJ) Roberts, and Bethanie Taylor perform with the Tech band. It was a wonderful (if chilly) day all around.
The band earned a second place finish at the Trousdale County Yellow Jacket Invitational Marching Band Contest. GO BAND!
The band played the Sing A Long Show to a very receptive audience of fellow band students who all sang along.
The band travelled to Upperman High School for a marching band exhibition with 9 other bands on Saturday, September 7. The Sing A Long show was a gigantic hit - with over 500 fans singing with us!
The band travelled to Chattanooga and performed in Finley Stadium as part of the Sale Creek Football Game. The band played well and was enthusiastically received by the crowd.
The Marching Band performed at halftime of the JCHS vs York Institute Football Game on August 23, 2019. It was a fine first performance. Look for even better next week - and MORE music - as we travel to Chattanooga and play against Sale Creek High School!
The 2019 edition of the Jackson County Band was in camp from July 24-31. They learned the ENTIRE marching band show - music and drill - to "The Greatest Marching Band Sing A Long - EVER" and performed for friends and family on August 1. Songs include: "We Will Rock You", "All Star", "Come Sail Away", "Livin' On A Prayer", and "Sweet Caroline".
Be sure to catch them at a football game or marching contest and SING A LONG!

These wonderful young musicians gave of their time and considerable talent to help in the proper retirement of flags on the town square on July 4.
The marching band and several alumni visited Murfreesboro for the Summer Music Games DCI show. The corps were fantastic (the Blue Devils won the show) and everyone was very impressed.

The concert band performed at the Upper Cumberland Concert Band festival and earned a rating of Superior (the highest possible). Congratulations to these fine young performers.
The Twin Lakes Small Band Clinic was a wonderful experience for all involved. Michael Spirko was the High School Conductor and Mark Bowling was the Middle School Conductor. The Flute Choir from TTU was our guest ensemble.
The Jackson County Band Students who earned a "I" at Solo/Ensemble Festival performed their selections for the rest of us at the Annual Showcase Concert. Congratulations to these fine young musicians. We also got to meet "Splanky" the flamingo.
On January 2-5 the Jackson County Band held their first ever, annual Concert Band Camp. The camp culminated in a very well received concert with parents and supporters sitting inside the band while the student musicians performed. This will be an ongoing event every year!
Several dedicated band students went Christmas Caroling around Gainesboro on Friday evening, December 21 followed by a time of fun and fellowship at Dairy Queen.

A huge THANK YOU to these young Americans who gave of themselves, their time, and their talent to provide music for the VFW/American Legion/Boy Scouts Flag Retirement Ceremony on the Courthouse Square.
The band travelled to St Louis for the "Big" band trip. They played a fun concert under the Arch, took a ride on a paddlewheel river boat, and posed for pictures on the steps. They also attended a Broadway Cast Tour performance of "The Phantom of the Opera". They enjoyed St Louis exclusives like Imo's Pizza, Vito's Toasted Ravioli, Gooey Louie Buttercake, and Pappy's Bar-B-Que. They had a great time at the zoo and Grant's Farm with the animals and had a blast at the City Museum. They were impressed with the beauty of the Basilica Cathedral and the St Louis Art Museum.
The High School Band performed at the Upper Cumberland Concert Festival at Prescott South Middle School on Saturday, March 3 and earned a Superior Rating in every category from both judges. They then travelled to MTSU on Tuesday, March 6 and earned Excellent ratings on stage and a Superior rating in sight-reading evaluation.
The band worked very hard to achieve this level of musicianship and we are very proud of their progress.
Five very talented students were chosen for participation in the Governors Honor Band on the Austin Peay State University campus on February 22-24.
Three fine musicians participated in the Festival of Winds and Percussion on the Tennessee Technological University campus on February 8-10.
The High School Bands presented a beautiful and moving Formal Concert on December 15. Several alumni joined them for "Russian Christmas Music" to end the evening. The desserts and coffee (and fellowship and conversation) were a perfect way to cap the experience!
The Middle School and High School Bands toured the county and played four Christmas Concerts on December 8. All of the crowds were very appreciative and the chili supper after the parent concert was delicious. Several alumni joined the band for "Jingle Bell Rock" - which is our tradition. Thank you to everyone who came out and especially to those who brought the FOOD!
The after parade Christmas Party was moved to the Gainesboro First United Methodist Church. Thank you Methodist Church. A GREAT time was had by all!
Several band students traveled to Nashville on December 2 and 9 to audition for Mid-State Bands along with several THOUSAND other Mid-State area band students. While no one made it this year, we are all very proud of their effort and progress!
Several High School band students were selected for the TTU All Star Symposium on Friday, November 17. They collaborated with peers. students from TTU, and the faculty member who teaches their instrument.
Much gratitude to these band students who gave up a Sunday afternoon to share their talents in appreciation for our veterans. On Sunday, November 12, at the JCMS gymnasium, these wonderful young adults pleased the crowd with patriotic selections.
The Jackson County Band traveled to Dunlap and participated in the Sequatchie County Marching Festival on Saturday, September 23. They did very well.
The Jackson County Band was busy for Football Homecoming on Friday, September 22. The band kicked-off the morning pep rally by performing their half-time show for the student body and then providing music for the pep rally. The band then led the homecoming parade through town. Finally, the band performed at the football game that night!
The Middle School Band provided music for the Literacy Night "Book Walk" (sort of like a cake walk...for books) from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19. Several of the band students traded books - many from the band lending library - and also won books in the book walk!
The Jackson County Marching Band travelled to Crossville on Saturday, September 16 to the Upper Cumberland Marching Band Festival, along with 15 other bands from Middle and East Tennessee. The band earned a Excellent rating overall. The Percussion section earned an Superior rating. GO BAND!
The Middle School Band performed in the stands and played "Aura Lee" on the field as accompaniment music for the crowning of the Homecoming Court on Thursday, September 14. Way to go MS Band!
The Middle School Band played in the stands for the Thursday evening, 8th Grade Night Game at 6:00 p.m. on September 11. A GREAT time was had by all!
Mr. Gotcher and the Drumline Members (Bethanie Taylor, Kirsten Clark, and Callie Kinney) take a break during TTU's Drumline Tune-Up Camp on Tech's campus. They had a wonderful time working on their music, collaborating with other drumlines, and learning from TTU faculty and students.

The High School Band travelled to Westmoreland on Friday night, September 1, to support our Blue Devil Football team. They played our Fight Song for the beginning of the game. Unfortunately, the rain never stopped so they had to retreat indoors to protect the instruments and sheet music. The Westmoreland Band were gracious hosts and the two bands collaborated and performed for each other. The Band is looking forward to the September 8 game at Red Boiling Springs (and better weather).
The band parent organization met to discuss High School Football performances, contests, and fund-raising ideas on Thursday, August 24 at 6:30 p.m. in the band room. Lots of information and ideas of how to raise (and spend) money for YOUR kids
Ian Hetzel, our field representative for the Music and Arts Company, was at Jackson County Middle School on Tuesday evening, August 22 from 5-8 p.m. and rented to 16 NEW band students!
On Tuesday, August 15, several band students came out to support the JCHS Soccer Teams during play.We are ALL in this together. GO BAND!
The High School Band (and 8th graders) had a wonderful banding-bonding-bowling adventure Friday after school at the Cosmic Bowling Lanes in Cookeville!
