our curriculum

Overview

The Lavender curriculum follows the National Curriculum and Development Matters and is rooted in sound educational research. Learning is carefully sequenced to ensure that knowledge and skills, taught over time, are remembered in order to develop pupils’ depth and mastery. Post holders have successfully sequenced progression in their subject documents which clearly signpost the knowledge and skills to be learned within a year group. Well thought through concepts are taught skillfully so that pupils reach or exceed the expectations for each curriculum subject. Leaders ensure that authentic and meaningful links are made for pupils to enhance learning opportunities.

Leaders have identified the ‘big ideas,’ core aspects of their subject. These are developed and revisited by pupils over time to ensure learning is embedded. Cover sheets and knowledge organisers designed or supported by the curriculum leaders detail the learning, vocabulary and pupil outcomes for each unit of work. Planning is coherent and builds on progression with clearly defined ambitious outcomes for each year group in each subject.

Our Key Drivers contribute to the design of our curriculum and are encapsulated by the Lavender Love.
