Leadership Potter County 2022 – It is Not Too Late to Enroll!

After both a pandemic and a respite of almost two years, Leadership Potter County is back! The revamped program is a great opportunity for residents from throughout Potter County to learn about themselves, participate in collaborative experiences and engage in opportunities to become more civic minded.

What do you think makes a good leader? Do you see yourself in a leadership role in the near future or sometime during your career? Do you want to have an impact on the communities where you live and work?

One of the most critical needs at the local level is strong leadership. Leadership Potter County 2022 will help participants expand their personal leadership skills, provide opportunities to network with cohort members and county residents, introduce them to key issues currently facing the region, and deepen their understanding of future trends that may impact Potter County.

Over the course of eleven months, LPC 2022 will cover important topics that teach participants about their own leadership styles and connect them to valuable resources in the county. If you see yourself as a future leader, then Leadership Potter County is for you!

Leadership Potter County 2022 is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. For more information or an application, contact Janine Morley at the Potter County Education Council at (814) 274-4877 or jmorley@pcedcouncil.org. The registration deadline is January 12th.

POTTER COUNTY EDUCATION COUNCIL AND TRI-CO CONNECTIONS CONTINUE PARTNERSHIP FOR SENIORS 2 SENIORS PROGRAM

The Potter County Education Council, Tri-Co Connections, the Potter County Human Services Area Agency on Aging, the Seneca Highlands CTC and our local school districts are continuing to team up to implement a county-wide program called Seniors 2 Seniors. This program is teaching basic computer skills, digital literacy, and cybersecurity to senior citizens so that they have the skills and knowledge to utilize the many benefits of high-speed Internet which can include:

  • Staying connected to friends and family

  • Sending and receiving emails

  • Using search engines to navigate the Internet

  • Utilizing telemedicine (healthcare from home)

  • Using on-line banking

  • Shopping from home (for items not available in the local area)

As a part of this program, the Potter County Education Council, Tri-Co Connections and the Area Agency on Aging have local high school students volunteering to provide on-site support to each of the adults who participates in the course. The area high school students are a logical resource to support the senior citizens as they learn about the Internet since this generation of students has grown up with technology as a part of their daily lives. They are a true “tech savvy” population and can provide valuable support to older adults who are learning to navigate and use new technological skills and information.

Course Schedule:

The Seniors 2 Seniors technology course is being offered at each of the four senior centers in Potter County on a five-week rotating schedule, meeting on Wednesdays from 12:45 – 1:45 PM (following the school districts’ calendars), throughout the 2021-2022 school year. The first Seniors 2 Seniors course will be held at the Coudersport Senior Center beginning on September 15th and ending on October 13th. The course is scheduled at the Shinglehouse Senior Center (October 20th – November 17th), the Ulysses Senior Center (March 16th – April 13th) and then at the Galeton Senior Center (April 20th – May 18th).
