Brian has spent over 30 years in the transportation industry ranging from manned aircraft to unmanned aircraft, robotaxis, and autonomous trucks. Most recently, he has spent his last 18 years working in risk management helping companies protect their teams, their resources, and their brands through data-driven strategies and decision-making processes.
Traditionally, Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Chartered Property/Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). My background was operational risk certified as a pilot, checked out on various aircraft, learned computer skills when the industry was young (pre 2000), many years of on-the-job experience.
Starts about 6 am to address issues with support resources in Europe. About 8am, the US teams start arriving which is when the 'days issues' start to arise. About 30% of my day is reactive in nature and supporting the needs of teams across the company by providing insurance documentation, contract reviews, evaluating if we are able to do certain projects and so forth. About 30% of the day is strategy development for emerging risks and planning how to protect the company 3-15 years in the future. About 20% of the day is spent working on budgets, approving costs, looking at risk models, and projecting loss trends. The last 20% of an average day is spent working on workplace safety issues such as training, chemical assessments, audits, and so forth.
