The Part-Time Job Fair is the first big event I got an opportunity to be part of. Coming in I had to adjust quickly, as this event was hosted during the Week of Welcomes (WOW), so it was early in the semester. I can say this event required attention to detail.
For the day of the event, we arrived early for set-up. We set up around 70 tables and put tablecloths on them. We also had small "thank you" gifts and other information in folders that we put on the employers' tables. Thankfully the weather was great that day but once it got to peak time it got really hot and with the large crowd of students going through; the tent did get hot.
Jaguar Series is a three-part virtual training that covers a variety of topics to assist in developing knowledge and skills for supervisors. Each series should be completed consecutively, and resources, swag, and awards will be given at the end of each. Series One is offered in the fall semester and upon successful completion, Series Two and Three are offered in the spring semester.
I had the great opportunity to work on Jag Series One and Two. Part three is under evaluation for new coursework. As an aspiring healthcare leader, if really enjoyed hearing the perspective of individuals who supervise students and what problems they have encountered. This has helped me prepare and know that it won't be easy being a leader, and its okay to not know everything because I'm still learning as well.
Supervisor Summit is a mini-conference held for Supervisors to come together and attend workshops about student employment success. This year we used the ballroom and the two rooms on the second floor of Tower. We had a keynote speaker who talked about
National Student Employee Appreciation Week is a week we take to appreciate student employees on or off campus. We also host events throughout the week to celebrate students. We also participate in the Midwest Association of Student Employment Administrators (MASEA). When we submit our winner for the Student Employee of the Year, he actually won.
