About Me
My name is Bill Allegrezza. I am a professor at IU Northwest, and I have worked in the IU system since 2003. Over the years, I have taught courses at seven universities, and I was the CEO for a poetry non-profit for five years. I have published eighteen books. All of them deal with poetry in some way, from translation to criticism to original poetry. I have been the editor of two presses and several poetry journals. I curated two reading series for writers. One is still active at IU Northwest: The Dunes Literary Series. Additionally, I have a MA in English and a doctorate in Comparative Literature.
On a more personal note, I grew up in Mississippi, and I have lived in Texas, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, and Italy. I love to travel, and I've been to 35 countries and most U.S. states (still missing Nebraska, New Mexico, and North Dakota). When I am not writing, you can often find me hanging out with my kids, hiking/camping, or playing a bass guitar.
I hope to get to know you this semester. If you have any questions for me, feel free to contact me right away. I don't want any of you to feel lost since we are working all online.
