We take the risk of COVID-19 seriously & work hard to protect our staff , our participants, & the community.

This involves monitoring both Indiana University & Centers for Disease Control guidelines, as well as maintaining our own strict protective procedures. These procedures are regularly updated.

At this time, we are excited to welcome children and their families to our lab for in-person participation of research studies. Appropriate measures to ensure cleanliness and to mitigate spread of sickness is outlined below. We'll include more information on how in-person testing will work when we invite your child to participate!

Proper safety measures will be in place for you, your child, & the study team with the resumption of in-person testing:

  • There are no mandatory mask requirements at this time for the researchers, children, or adults accompanying the children; however, families are free to wear masks if they prefer and to request that researchers also wear masks.

  • Before your arrival, all chairs, tables, lab equipment, & other surfaces will be thoroughly disinfected.

  • Upon your arrival, a researcher will meet you at the parking lot & escort you in. Another researcher will meet you in the lab.

  • As you enter, we will ask you & your child to wash your hands using our sink with a soap & paper-towel dispenser. The lab members conducting the study will do the same.

  • To the extent possible, consent & questionnaires will be obtained electronically. If paper is required, you will be given a disinfected pen to sign any forms. The pen will be set aside for later cleaning.

  • We will observe social distancing with you & your child wherever possible (e.g., if we need to help your child get into the chair).

  • All lab members will receive training on COVID-19 transmission prevention, will monitor for COVID symptoms, & will stay home if feeling ill or have been exposed.

  • Disinfectant wipes, gloves, surgical masks, & hand sanitizer will be made available in the lab, in case you or your child needs them.
