Hi! My name is Alexis Hahn, I am a 2026 May graduate of the IUI Honors College with a major in biology and a minor in Medical Humanities and Health Studies. I plan on pursuing PA school afterwards, specifically looking into programs in state such as the IU PA program.
A little bit more about me:
Growing up as a triplet taught me early how to collaborate, communicate, and adapt, skills that naturally carry into healthcare. While still a senior in high school, I completed my Associate of General Studies through Ivy Tech’s Ivy Academy program, an experience that strengthened my academic discipline and showed me I could thrive in accelerated, high‑expectation environments.
Alongside my degree, I earned three clinical certifications: CPT, CNA, and CMA. Working in these roles allowed me to step directly into patient care, where I learned how to build trust quickly, explain procedures clearly, and stay calm under pressure. These experiences have shaped the kind of PA I aspire to become.
Outside of academics and healthcare, I enjoy challenging myself with new baking projects, rollerskating, and spending time with friends. These hobbies keep me balanced, creative, and grounded, and they remind me to approach patient care with the same patience, curiosity, and sense of community.
Together, these experiences influence my path toward becoming a physician assistant by strengthening my clinical competence, deepening my empathy, and reinforcing my commitment to patient‑centered care.
Eva practices a blood draw during a lab after my senior year of high school (2022). Having this skill as well as working as a patient care technician makes interactions with patients feel familiar.
This familiarity gives me space to practice translating complex concepts into clear, patient‑centered explanations, something I know will be vital in my future as a PA
Serving as PR for ASU during 2023-2024 and on the APIDA Dinner Committee (2023) strengthened my communication skills and cultural awareness.
These are qualities that help me connect with diverse patients and advocate for inclusive care as a future PA.
Being active as the vice-president of the Pre‑PA Club and secretary of the Korean Culture Club (2025-2026) kept me grounded in both my career goals and my community, reinforcing teamwork, empathy, and the interpersonal skills essential in patient‑centered healthcare.
The image above shows red blood cells taken during my first semester at IU Indy (2022). As an Honors College student at IUI, I’ve had the chance to explore concepts like this with more depth and intention.
The Honors curriculum pushed me to think critically, communicate clearly, and connect scientific ideas to real‑world healthcare. These skills strengthen my foundation as a future PA, where understanding core biological principles and applying them thoughtfully will be essential.
Asian Student Union, Vietnamese Student Union, and Myanmar Student Organization hosted a Thanksgiving potluck for students at IUI in Fall 2023. The event brought together students from many cultural backgrounds, creating a space to share food, traditions, and community.
It was a moment where different cultures came together in a welcoming environment, strengthening connection and belonging across the APIDA community and beyond.
