I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business Management and HR with a minor in Event Management. I plan to work in corporate event management and/or just work as an HR major and possibly even develop my own event management business as a side job. I have these goals because event planning has always been something I have been truly interested in even if it was as a hobby. I'm gaining useful experience in the hospitality sector with my current internship at J.W. Marriott as a front desk agent, which aligns with my career objectives.
I intend to keep doing well in my internship at the J.W. Marriott and look for more practical event management experience to make sure I achieve my career objective of starting my own event management company. I'm going to continue to dedicate myself to my studies in HR and business management, and I could even pursue more training in event organizing to hone my talents. It will be essential to network with industry leaders, participate in event planning, and keep up with developments in the field. To stay on course and improve my strategy, I will also start writing a business plan for my upcoming endeavor and routinely ask mentors and coworkers for their input.
Integrity, teamwork, and a desire to provide outstanding customer service are the cornerstones of my professional identity. With a strong emphasis on communication, organization, and leadership, I foster conditions where teams may flourish, which complements my abilities in event planning and company management. My approach to opportunities and challenges is shaped by my passion for making a lasting impression and guaranteeing operational effectiveness. This persona enhances my internship as a front desk agent at the J.W. Marriott. My performance in the hospitality industry is improved by my commitment to providing outstanding customer service and efficient team coordination. However, the fast-paced, meticulous nature of the hospitality industry forces me to adjust and improve my abilities constantly.
Confirming my career goals has been made much easier by being aware of my professional identity. It has given me confidence that I am headed in the right direction, especially as I strive to launch my own event management company. It has also emphasized the value of investigating sectors that place a high value on operational quality and customer experience, which feeds back into my interest in event management in the hotel sector. I stay focused on chances that complement my hobbies and talents because of my self-awareness.
My academic journey in Business Management and HR has a significant connection to my internship at J.W. Marriott. The concepts I learn in the classroom directly influence my daily tasks and interactions in the hospitality industry. For instance, my coursework in human resources has equipped me with a solid understanding of employee relations and customer service principles, which I apply when engaging with guests and addressing their needs effectively. Additionally, my classes' emphasis on organizational behavior has enhanced my ability to work collaboratively with my colleagues, fostering a positive work environment.
Moreover, skills such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking, which are integral to my studies, have been invaluable in my role as a Front Desk Agent. I find myself utilizing conflict resolution strategies learned in class when handling guest complaints, ensuring that I maintain a high level of service. Conversely, my internship complements my academic pursuits by providing real-world experiences reinforcing my learning. The hands-on exposure to the hospitality sector deepens my understanding of theoretical concepts and prepares me for future challenges in my career. Overall, this synergy between my academic knowledge and internship experience is instrumental in shaping my professional development.
